WECAN PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT EVENT

What makes a family/caregiver & child program meaningful today, and how can we build strong, connected communities? What are the essential experiences that support children, families, and those who care for them? Join Katherine, Somer, and Anjum for a lively, interactive conversation that we hope will inspire and strengthen you in your work and in your community.  We welcome educators, enrollment administrators, and parents to join the conversation.

This is a live event scheduled to take place on: 
Tuesday, January 19, 2027 at 3:00pm HT / 5:00 pm PT / 6:00 pm MT / 7:00pm CT / 8:00pm ET.

Length of Event: This event will run one hour and 30 minutes.

Professional Development Certificate: Live participants will receive a certificate for 1.5 hours of attendance at the end of the event. 

Recording Access: All who register will receive access to the recording.

  • Fee: $20 USD

Anjum Mir has been supporting parents in establishing healthy home rhythms for over 20 years. Her teaching experience has taken her from public and private schools to Waldorf education, which she discovered while looking for an educational system that honored the development and spiritual well-being of her first child.
Currently, Anjum, a mother of four, works in pedagogical administration and teaches parent-child classes at the Westside Waldorf school in Los Angeles. She offers prenatal-, infant-, and toddler-focused workshops and seminars and holds parenting classes for parents of children through middle school. She is the Board Chairperson of WECAN, co-editor of Gateways, and involved with several other education-focused organizations, as well as teacher education and training.

Katherine Scharff is the Director of Teacher Education at Sophia’s Hearth. She taught preschool and parent-child at the Waldorf School of Saratoga in New York. She is also a Simplicity Parenting Family Life Coach. She has completed the Sophia’s Hearth Waldorf teacher education program and advanced training in the Pikler approach.
