WECAN PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT EVENT

PART 1 - Breathing Well in a Breathless World with Stephanie Hoelscher & Holly Koteen Soulé

How do we create spaces that allow young children to breathe freely, grow, and thrive? In this workshop, we will focus on attention, attunement, and availability as artistic capacities that early childhood teachers need in order to meet the children of our times.

PART 2 - Sources for our Strength as Early Childhood Educators with Laurie Clark & Ruth Ker

Where is the wellspring from which we drink in order to do our work as Waldorf early childhood educators? Please join us in this exciting journey of discovery. Bring along an open heart and an open mind.

This is a two-part live event scheduled to take place on:
Monday, October 26, 2026, at 2:00pm HT / 5:00 pm PT / 6:00 pm MT / 7:00pm CT / 8:00pm ET 
and
Monday, November 2, 2026 at 3:00pm HT / 5:00pm PT / 6:00pm MT / 7:00pm CT / 8:00pm ET

Length of Event: Each part of this event will run one hour and 30 minutes.

Professional Development Certificate: Live participants will receive a certificate for three hours of attendance at the end of the event. (For two-part events, attendees will receive the certificate at the end of the second part.)

Recording Access: All who register will receive access to the recording.

Stephanie Hoelscher is a Waldorf teacher, parent, spouse, anthropologist, three-time cancer survivor, former-marathoner-turned-swimmer, Mandarin Chinese speaker, is drawn to difference and the periphery, and is spiritually called to the practices of observation and listening.

Holly Koteen-Soule was a Waldorf early childhood educator for 25 years and a founding faculty member of Sound Circle Center in Seattle, WA. She was a former member of the WECAN Board and currently serves on the WECAN Early Childhood Research Group. She is the author/editor of Truer than True: A World of Fairy Tales for the Waldorf Kindergarten and Becoming and Belonging: Supporting the Healthy Social Emotional Development of the Young Child.

Laurie Clark has had the privilege of being a Waldorf early childhood teacher for over fifty years. She is a mentor to teachers across the country and teaches in several Waldorf teacher training programs. Laurie is a conference presenter nationally and internationally, and has co-authored two books with Nancy Blanning on therapeutic movement for children entitled Movement Journeys and Circle Adventures.

Ruth Ker is WECAN’s Teacher Education Coordinator, a representative on the AWSNA Teacher Education Delegates Circle, and an educator at the West Coast Institute for Studies in Anthroposophy. A founding teacher of the Sunrise Waldorf School, she lives in Duncan, BC, near her family, including five grandchildren. As facilitator of the WECAN Older Child in the Kindergarten Group and a member of the international IASWECE working group on this theme, she edited From Kindergarten into the Grades and You’re Not the Boss of Me!, and is the author/editor of Please, Can We Play Games?
